Back again for 2019, Copper Falls is continuing their newly established tradition of creating a beautiful custom home, with the proceeds being donated to Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation to support better health outcomes in the North. This year along with their contractors, they are creating a 2525 sqft fully developed home in the Aberdeen Glen area! Progress on the project can be found at www.spiritofthenorth.ca and https://www.copperfalls.ca/the-copper-project.
Last year, Copper Falls approached Spirit of the North with the idea of donating the proceeds from the sale of a custom home. This was the beginning of what we fondly refer to as the Copper Project. Once the sale of last year’s 3084 sqft. rancher house was completed in late September, a donation of $90,000 was made to 3 major areas of care: Breast Health Imaging, a Dedicated Maternal Operating Room and 4 Ortho Video Operating Room Towers. All 3 of these campaigns have been fully funded and closed off due to amazing donations of our donors!
“We live and raise our children in Prince George, and want the best services available if and when it is needed” said Jeff Stewart and Brent Scheck, co-owners at CopperFalls. “Healthcare has touched us in many ways already and it is our way of doing what we do best and working with those who support us to collectively have an impact…. It shows collaboration in the biggest way.”
The 3 focuses were chosen by the Copper Falls staff and many of their contractors. They all have been touched by Healthcare. A dedicated Maternal OR means that other surgeries such as hip or knee replacements, tonsillectomy and cataracts or elective surgeries aren’t being postponed or cancelled when an emergency birthing situation arises. The Breast Health Imaging Equipment is state of the art equipment, intended to make UHNBC a one-stop breast health imaging centre to reduce wait times and increase recovery time. The Ortho Video OR Towers now allows for less downtime in surgery, better images when performing a procedure which would result in quicker healing times and less invasive surgeries.
“We are so delighted to work with such an amazing team. They had a vision, shared that vision with their sub trades, Contractors and suppliers, built a first class home -- and added a huge amount of generosity, and the success will be enjoyed by many. We are truly touched to be their charity of choice.” Said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “Its humbling to have so many very incredible people come together for such an amazing project.”
