Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation Wins Provincial Radio Award

Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation wins provincial radio award

A radio advertisement by the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation has won a provincial award. “Spirit Day,” produced in partnership with the Jim Pattison Broadcast stations  99.3 The Drive  and  101.3 The River , brought awareness to fundraising for the first-ever “calming room” at the UHNBC in Prince George.

“The room aims to create a calm, relaxing environment,” said Chantelle Wilson, Manager, Child & Youth Regional & Specialized Services. “This can be helpful for patients and families who have a therapeutic need to experience something other than the usual hospital sounds, lights, and other stimuli.”

In the words of the ad, “the emergency room helps stabilize the body; a calming room will help stabilize the mind.”

The ad won the Community Service Award for Small Market Radio as part of the 73rd annual BC Association of Broadcasters awards for fall 2020.

“Just the thought of having a calming room available to families,” says a family member quoted in the ad, “…just the idea of it is a relief.”

“We are so grateful for the media we have on board to promote this event. It really is a great partnership,” said Judy Neiser, Chief Executive Officer of the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
